Standards for IFSKGIA Guides

  1. On class 1 & 2 seas the maximum number of participants on a guided trip must correspond with the following ratios and at least one IFSKGIA certified associate guide must be responsible for the trip when under the guidance of an IFSKGIA senior guide (an associate guide is in the process of achieving their full guide certification and from the 8th week of the guide course is considered an associate guide).
  2. On class 3 seas the maximum number of participants must not exceed to following ratios and at least one IFSKGIA certified guide must be responsible for the trip.
  3. On class 4 seas the maximum number of participants must not exceed to following ratios and at least one IFSKGIA certified senior guide must be responsible for the trip.

Class 1 Seas                3:20 / 4:30            

Class 2 Seas                 3:10 / 4:18                        

Class 3 Seas                  2:10

Trip classification:    A Group of single sea kayaks (Guides : Clients)

Class 1 Seas                1:7 / 2:12   

Class 2 Seas                 1:5 / 2:8    

Class 3 Seas                  2:6       

Class 4 Seas                 2:4              

Trip classification:    A Mixed Fleet of sea kayaks (Guides : Clients)

Class 1 Seas                2:18 (max. number of sea kayaks per group is 12)

Class 2 Seas                 2:12 (max. number of sea kayaks per group is 8)    

Class 3 Seas                  2:8 (max. number of sea kayaks per group is 6)   

Class 4 Seas                 2:6 (max. number of sea kayaks per group is 4)
