IFSKGIA Guide Education & Training

To obtain certification as an IFSKGIA Sea kayak Guide & Instructor an individual must complete the 3 steps of IFSKGIA’s educational system, this takes usually between 1-3 years to complete.

Step 1.  – Evaluation and admission to IFSKGIA guide leadership course

Step 2.  – guide leadership course (15 weeks)
               – qualify for and obtain an IFSKGIA Associate Guide & Instructor Certification

Step 3.  – complete all the guiding day requirements, pass the IFSKGIA guides’ exam and the technical skills evaluation

IFSKGIA ASSOCIATE SEA KAYAK GUIDE & INSTRUCTOR

To obtain certification as an IFSKGIA Associate Guide an individual must be accepted into IFSKGIA Guide training program and have completed IFSKGIA’s 15-week guide course

Step 1.  – Evaluation and admission to IFSKGIA guide leadership course

Step 2.  – Completed and passed IFSKGIA’s guide leadership course (15 weeks)

Step 3.  – log as a guide apprentice 80 days of commercial sea kayak guiding on class 1-2 seas (IFSKGIA) through an apprenticeship position with a IFSKGIA accredited company; under the mentorship of a IFSKGIA Senior Guide.

An IFSKGIA associate guide is a limited certification, in which the certified associate guide has 3 year to complete the requirements needed to qualify for certification as certified a IFSKGIA guide & instructor
